Overview

Copit is a browser extension that lets you save text, images, and videos from any webpage as personal memos, with optional AI-powered summarization and retrieval. Your privacy is important to us. Copit is designed to keep your data local and under your control.

Data Collection and Storage

What Copit stores

• Memos: Text selections, image URLs, video URLs, page titles, and page URLs that you explicitly choose to save.
• AI summaries: Short summaries generated for each memo via the AI API you configure.
• Chat history: Conversation history with the AI assistant within the extension popup.
• Settings: Your chosen AI provider, API URL, model name, API key, and language preference.

Where data is stored

All data is stored locally on your device using the Chrome chrome.storage.local API.

No data is sent to any server operated by us.

We do not operate any backend, analytics, or telemetry service.

API key

Your AI API key is stored locally in chrome.storage.local.

It is never transmitted to any party other than the AI API provider you configure (for example OpenAI, DeepSeek, Anthropic, Groq, or a custom endpoint).
